Is that in honour of Jerry Garcia and his composition ‘Uncle John’s Band’

So we have Alexis still to find.

Incidentally, it's been suggested that once a solution has been found we open the field to volunteers in the hope this will widen the pool of problem setters. Then, democracy over, we press gang the one who came up with the solution, or largest part of it.

But let the regulars decide on that point.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

          Very good!

For Alexis, think of a very famous Russian play.

That works for me, although I am not sure I qualify as a regular!

Alexis Chesniakov composed the music for the Olivier-Redgrave, et multi alii, production of Uncle Vanya.

I think that the Uncle solution deserves the services of an Aunt!

AD was the first to come up with U.N.C.L.E.. , cloughie came up with Uncle John's Band and I brought up the rear with Uncle Vanya after a humongous clue. But cloughie has just done T and I did S, so failing a (very welcome) volunteer - speak now! - I'll side with cloughie. No pressure

Here's a V to see if there's any residual interest in AA. I think it's straightforward but one never knows....

I appear twice in the title of a single-movement work with lots of percussion, get repeated at the start of a massive two-movement work (though it's not a mass), and need both hands and a pair of feet in a three-movement work that's quite varied.

Are Stravinsky, Mahler 8 and an organ concerto involved?

No Stravinsky; Mahler 8, yes; organ, yes, but not a concerto!

That's a pity: I thought of Vivaldi's F major for violin, violin, organ, organ, orchestra and orchestra
