To my ears, this composer sounds disgusting. But only in name.

So who got to Wiki first with Silvestre Revueltas?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I think we got several giga-clues!

The four works then are the String Quartets 1-3 and Música de feria for string quartet (sometimes called String Quartet 4).

I think that in my case it's a combination of a lack of clarity and loss of enjoyment.

              Well done ff.
Thanks tapiola, another composer to explore. I think I need help with the coleslaw, though

The answer on my card is dissimilar but I like your thinking.

My card has snake (Sensemaya), Toccata (touch) and Serious ( 2 Serious Pieces for Wind Quintet).

Your alternative answers do it for me though.

                S awaits...

Night of the Mayas is seriously trippy. The recording I have is conducted by David Atherton ( the better conductor than Rattle imo) but sadly it is a very badly balanced recording. It needs another and better outlet).

2 serious pieces for wind quintet rounds it off.

Bah! I forgot about the snake. And I missed a few of your replies which had me up the proverbial gum tree.

So, with AD's blessing after having first come up with Sylvester and laboured over Q, I'll come up with an S for tomorrow. Sure to encourage LMcD back

Wow: blink and another letter has come and gone.

This one would have completely stumped me, despite having Sensemaya on this recommendable Bernstein collection:

Latin American Fiesta. Sony: SMK60571. Buy Presto CD or download online. Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Netania Davrath (soprano), Carl Stern (cello)

Sssssooo, for S (my straightforward style ) The S is for the composer, and the three clues are to entirely separate works by three different composers. The link between the three should/might/hopefully will point to the composer.

The first piece was originally an aria by a German composer to the words of a German poet.
The second piece is a song by an Austrian composer with words of a German poet.
The third piece is a vocal work by an English composer to the words of an English poet

Don't go away Pulcie - they'll have this one wrapped up in no time!
