After your hint I looked up Bartók and Improvisations but didn't find anything (also Janáček and Improvisations, Dvořák and Improvisations, Liszt and Improvisations &c &c ... <sigh>)

hmvman's comment seconded - the ingenuity of the question setters has been terrific. (I think I was a lot kinder and imagined was therefore an object of scorn ) At least I can do accents ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

      Bartók Opus 20, Sz74, published in 1920.

As ff says, though, maybe this thread has run its course, and should be restricted to Advent each year?
Shame really, Advent is a busy time for singing and other activities so not had much time on the forum!

I did not doubt you for a second: I sought but did not find. Good clue though, once the rest had been solved. I was waiting to find that third 'I' before posting!

I might be misremembering; perhaps it was Classical Music Associations that BBM used to resurrect (wrong season!) each Advent.
I certainly don't want to quash any residual enthusiasm there may be.

... and a Happy New Year! The apparent lack of interest in continuing may be disappointing but perhaps not unexpected. I'm pleased to see that there's no lack of interest in Musicial Associations.

I’m not sure why Advent. It seems to me an unfortunately hectic time of year to be able to focus on this… Is it because of the ‘Christmas quiz’ tradition (not that I’m sure if/why that is - hangover from festive parlour games perhaps?).

I would like to have contributed more but after a few days when I could, the Yuletide “build-up”, a dose of Covid (my first ), then New Year away meant that none of the remaining brain-cells were available.

Why not Easter? Lent? Early summer before the Proms…? Some period when nothing much else is going on…?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Nick: I was wrong, and it was Classical Music Associations that was 'time limited' (and this season's run has just been wrapped up).
That said, I'm not sure how much enthusiasm there is for keeping AA going: maybe you should test the waters!
                      Hope you're fully recovered.

It could just have been the time of year - being v busy - but there were two or three rounds where I felt I was virtually alone, setting my questions and trying to solve others' and no one else contributing. That was the point when I declined to set another question
