    Yes.
George Szell, Fritz Reiner and Ivan Fischer - 3 Budapest-born baton-wielders.
Very much a team effort, so we'll wait to C who sets the next poser.

I believe I have one , but nothing yet to link any C to.

Might one of these gentlemen have been the subject of anniversary celebrations this year?

Hmm. That's thrown a spanner in the works.

No, but I'm looking for the anniversary. (Should have been listening to R3 - they like anniverdaries).

Come to think of it, that might be the one I've got.

Rachmaninoff was born (in 1873) in the family estate in the village of Semyonovo, near Staraya Russa, Novgorod Governorate.
He wrote several concertos, and I'm sure we could find a gentleman from each of Vienna and Thuringia (JSB?) who also did, but I doubt that the C stands for Concerto somehow!

Yes, that was as far as I got. I was looking at Christmas for the C, but can only see one connection - to the German gentleman

We're still short of the Viennese one (at least, I am). If the Russian gentleman had spelled St John Ct John, that might have been the C connection, but somehow ...

Rachmaninoff died in California, as did Vienna-born Arnold Schoenberg.....
Thuringia to California - Paul Marquardt?

Wizard of Oz man? Must confess I had a different Thuringian in mind, but he didn't die in California.
