Cute Google Magna Carta "cartoon" today

    Black History Month 2025! #GoogleDoodle

I don't know if this is what people in the rest of the world see, if they go, for example to
https://www,google.com as Google tries to be "clever" and substitutes what it thinks it "needs" to, to suit regional distribution. The animation shows King John and a crowd of nobles. King J signs, and the nobles go away, apart from one who is still attached to a ball and chain. He is thrown a key, and unlocks the chain and then disappears.

Maybe someone else will know - for example in Japan or Russia. I'm guessing that people in countries like Canada, India and Australia where there has been a strong connection with England for a long while will see the animation, but some in other parts of the world may not.

I'm pleased to see they have John authentically sealing the document rather than signing it!

I can advise that users in Scotland can see the Magna Carta cartoon.

But we haven't cast you off into the North Sea or Atlantic yet! Of course you should see it!

If I were being very pedantic you should have written that "at least one user in Scotland can see ..." Of course I'm not like that!

OK - but I'm not going to edit my post now, as that would perhaps confuse people more. Thanks for checking on the historical accuracy stuff.

It's disappointing that the Google header doesn't show the eco villagers camped nearby, threatened as they are with eviction.

              maybe its just me......

A statue of the Queen is unveiled beside the River Thames in Surrey as part of events marking the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.

              maybe in another 800 years......

Yes, that did occur to me. I know you're not like that (is anyone on these boards?) and my tongue was of course ever so slightly in my cheek.

Indeed, writing was for scribes, not kings, well not that king, anyway.

Thanks. I heard a version of this joke long before it was incorporated into a book and a now very popular play with an award winning star - http://mathworld.wolfram.com/AtLeastOne.html

I think Jean's copy is an improvement on the original !
