An ongoing observation, I use an ergonomic mouse with some sort of control wheel. I now find that I have to scroll vertically a lot more than previously, as there are fewer posts visible on each page. I think this has been addressed at the upper levels of the organisational structure, but within threads it's still a matter of concern.

Of course it makes little difference for a page of long posts, but not everyone writes an essay in response to any other comment.

Despite this though, glad to have this back and working again.

Yes I'm having to do a lot more scrolling and clicking(which joints do not appreciate) but I'm hoping that some of it at least will reduce as the clunky bits get ironed out.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Seconded. It even remembered me (which is good, because I probably wouldn't have a clue as to my login details these days). Wished I'd bothered checking on its status a couple of days earlier.

Just noticed/discovered something I'd never used before - the Message Center [sic]. Maybe there was such a thing in the previous incarnation, but now I can see when and where others have posted or responded to posts I have put up.

However this particular post - yes - this one here - was victim to the Disappearing New Post problem - so I had to find it to make a correction by going to my Profile to discover the post to create this edit. The edit was to change "notice" to "noticed"!

I don't get posts showing in the Message Center (my brain keeps interpreting that as massage centre... wishful thinking perhaps as my back is so knotted and sore) just messages, I have to do the My Profile route for posts.

I don't get posts showing in the Message Center either, but I do get links to update on posts etc., which enables me to quickly return to a post if I want to make any more comments, or change anything. Maybe that facility was available in earlier versions, but I never noticed or used it.

after some days I've come to the conclusion that the new board is tedious to read - the old one allowed a quick overview of all topics so was quick to see if some topic had an interesting contribution - now there appears no mechanism to see such an overview which for myself is quite a turn off - too much space wasted for this current post less than 50% of the page shows posts

I am very relieved to have the forum back, even in this less than ideal form, but (for me, not that at ease with online arrangements) it is certainly hard work, and last night I realised it is definitely not something I should tackle when my brain is tired! The disappearance of posts, inconsistent ordering of pages and posts, number of steps to get an overview of activity, meant I was just going round in circles seeing things appearing then disappearing.
At least I do have some time to spend trying to find things, and it doesn't affect important parts of my life - unlike the car crash of an HR system foisted on us last year at work which has now become so super that I can't enter pay claims, so I'm added to the list of others in the same situation which my manager has to deal with.

I think that ff's comment on another thread, that the developers are likely not users, is probably true.
How often that happens elsewhere, too.
Do GP Practice Managers ever try to get an appointment with the GP through the telephone systems they force on us, for example?

As a result of going around the houses(again!) muttering "I know it's in there somewhere" I've finally tracked down this post in order to say that in the course of establishing that the massage centre doesn't have posts I did discover how to find my (real, rather than what this system chooses to give me)latest posts. It's not under the link "My recent posts" - oh no that would be too obvious, it's under "My Profile", something which I've never needed to consider in the past as it's been a case of set it up and leave it. Something else to add to a post-it on the noticeboard above my desk, until such time as it's become fixed in my brain.
However, thanks Dave for, even if unintentionally, enabling me to find a useful bit of jigsaw!

One of my closest friends is a GP Practice Manager but her own GP isn't the one she works for, so yes, in this case she has to negotiate that phone system.

I hope that she gives her feedback (both positive and negative) to both practices.
I'm amazed for example that more don't offer a simple call back option in their menus.
