Has anybody else had this e-mail? Is it genuine? Rather wary of opening.

It sounds genuine enough, though "12 pm" is ambiguous.

Oh, one for Pedants' Paradise, indeed. I wince every time I encounter a parking restriction notice with one the time limit indications displayed on it being 12pm. What is wrong with "12 noon" or "12 midnight"?

If I ever get anything unsolicited and want to check any of the links then it's easy to do a right-click and reveal the actual URL. If it's a scam then the actual URL often bears little resemblance to what is displayed on the screen. Of course, this is not foolproof. 'Man-in-the-middle' attacks, compromised websites......

The URL itself could be genuine, but the organisation behind it might not be. See the details of a very recent SEC problem rating to a seemingly genuine company meddling with Avon shares, which seems from later evidence to have been bogus - http://fortune.com/2015/05/15/sec-en...-seem-to-care/

12pm and 12am are by definition meaningless. Noon is on the meridiem and cannot be before or after it. Midnight is exactly 12 hours before or 12 hours after the meridiem and therefore can be am or pm. 12.00midnight and 12.00noon save ambiguity. Alternatively settle for the twenty for hour system with noon being 1200 and miidnight 0000. (Not 2400 - don't even think of going there).

You can find the organisation by Googling the name. The 1st page of the survey states it follows a market research code of practice. filling in the survey whilst refreshing my browser for the Proms booking and trying to resist entering an Ed Reardon style expression of bile.

I am also very wary of any unsolicited approach and usually terminate any such telephone call immediately saying I am doing it for that very reason. I'm trying to get this ingrained in my behaviour for when I start losing my marbles so I don't get put on a list of fraudsters' potential targets. But - I'm also willing to help support the arts and the questions are not intrusive so far......

Postscript. I deferred on the income, and ethnicity questions. I also told them why, in the comments section (also adding that IMO RFH needs to be replaced with something equal to Symphony Hall, and the Barbican to be acoustically overhauled and improved markedly). I also mentioned not alienating core and loyal audiences whilst following their quest for new ones (Twitter toting "Youff" and Sun Readers etc....). Not that it will be of any interest to their clients......

Why not? Multiple labels could be possible, as in 1.999999... + 2.99999999... = 5! Exactly. Or 4.999999... if you prefer!
