I received this letter from Georgina's husband Geoffrey today and I think it is a fitting way to end this thread:
Georgina Gibbons
(20TH December 1960 – 29th April 2015)
I would like to thank you for attending Georgina’s Funeral service on Friday 15th May 2015 at Wessex Vale Crematorium.
I think you will agree with me that it was a fitting tribute to Georgina.
Having a few pieces of her artwork on display made it even more magical considering how much drawing and painting meant to her.
Georgina and myself had a fantastic 10 years together and although much time was spent under a cloud of cancer treatment the bond between us grew day by day. I can tell you we had some amazing times together!!!
The months leading up to Georgina’s passing were very difficult with the obvious signs of the cancer progressing.
However, not once did she complain! She just wanted to carry on living life to the full as best she could – and boy did we give it our best shot!
I think of the use of the word courage – people should look at how Georgina reacted in a positive fashion time and time again after being knocked back with more bad news…….
But now she is not here, and it is still incredibly hard to accept – I spend lonely days with our dog Starsky and between us we get through. Just!
I struggle day after day but when I think of our times together it pushes me on.
I am determined to continue her legacy in the artworld and will continue to attend exhibitions/ markets etc – not now – but in the future.
I speak for myself, Aoife, Donald, Graham and Ilyena in thanking you for the support you have shown – it is much appreciated.
We all miss her so much but good memories will always remain.
But remember, although Georgina is not here now she will not be forgotten and without doubt HER SPIRIT WILL REMAIN.........
Kind Regards
Geoffrey
I add my own thanks to you all for your kind messages of sympathy
