Deepest sympathy HS, desperately sad for you and the family. Her "Dangerous Waters" was indeed a worthy winner.

I can only echo the heartfelt sentiments expressed here by so many others - a terrible loss for you to have to face; at least there is very obviously much in her sadly truncated life to celebrate and it is this, as well as you personal memories, that will - as far as anything possibly can - help you to come to terms with this over time.
RIP...

I hope it gives some small comfort to see so many adding their condolences to you, Hornspieler - as I do mine.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

"Clinging On" 2012 by Georgina Gibbons.
This picture, exemplifying the threat of extinction to wildlife such as this baby Orang Utan, was given to me by my daughter as my 80th Birthday present. We laughed at the time.
I thank you all for your kind messages - please carry on spreading the word about Georgina's work and enjoy looking at those wonderful pet portraits which have given comfort to so many pet owners who had lost their loved ones.

Georgina brought so much beauty into the world, all in the face of her own sufferings...
From the "Laughing Zebra" wildly mocking his observer, to "Purrfect" - a reclining Snow Leopard, like an ancient Chinese Sage who seems to embody the weariness of age, the sadness of wisdom, and the struggle for survival - they speak to everyone, but perhaps especially to those of us who find animals impossible to live without. They express an intensity of beauty, and an intense awareness of our own mortality.
Georgina is at peace.
Her Art lives on - vibrant, fiery, alive!

Having just returned from the wilds of the Scottish highlands, perhaps the kinds of areas and habitats for animals which Georgina might have portrayed so eloquently in her art, I was saddened to read to read this news. Ospreys, hawks and falcons featured on our trip as well as belatedly some basking seals. These are surely some creatures which Georgina would have enjoyed representing - as shown here - http://www.animalspiritart.co.uk/birdart.html
My deepest sympathies to you, and very best wishes.

Terribly sad, Hornspieler, to read about Georgina's cruel second health blow which took her from this life so prematurely. Your daughter seemed such a lovely, cheerful person and, my, what an artist! I was so struck with the incredible reality of the paintings I have forwarded the website link to a sister in the US whom I know will just love to receive these quite brilliant and truly adorable animal pictures. I'm sure she'll share the link with her many animal-loving friends and associates in the States.
There is nearly always a very special bond between father and daughter and, quite apart from a natural, mutual love, you must be so proud of Georgina and what she achieved. Hopefully, that will be some consolation to you and the rest of the family at this terribly sad time for you all.
God Bless & Many, Many Condolences,
Georgina, RIP.
