    Georgina Gibbons 1960 - 2015

It is with great sadness that I have to tell my fellow message boarders that my daughter Georgina lost her battle against the debilitating bone cancer which hit her 18 months ago.
She had just been announced as the BBC Wildlife Artist of the year and was about to take up her award of a safari to Botswana when the desease struck and thereafter has continued against a crippling adversity to paint her animal portraits both of peoples’ pets (often departed) and also her stunning pictures of wild creatures whose very existence is under threat from the poachers, so-called sportsmen and the general change in the environment.

Her Husband Geoffrey has vowed to keep her website open so that all may be able to see the wonderful range and quality of her paintings and also learn from the hints and tips that she offers to would-be artists. Please look at this astonishing collection of animals, both wild and domesticated which are free to view.

Welcome to Wildlife Pastel Art By award winning wildlife and animal artist Georgina Gibbons Georgina was passionate about all wildlife, and she created past ...

Georgina’s affinity with the animal kingdom is well illustrate on the Platform 3/Photo Booth/Pets Corner thread in message #8, posted on my behalf by our genial host Caliban.

Those early photographs explain a lot about her commitment towards the animal kingdom

Farewell, dear Georgie. Rest in Peace.

I'm so sad to read this, HS. A parent ought never to go through this. Her 'human footprint' seems magnificent, though, and the influence she'll have had on countless lives, immense.
