A remarkable musician. Back in the 1980s, I conducted VW's Old Hundredth arrangement, in "reduced" orchestration by Roy Douglas. "Reduced" in this instance still meant a very large A3 score with tiny handwriting. This arrangement with now be in copyright until the end of 2085!
Douglas's Les Sylphides has always been my favourite. According to Wikipedia, there are orchestrations by Glazunov, Britten, Gretchaninov, Douglas and Jacob. No mention of a Sargent version there. -
Apparently RVW would introduce him as "the man who wrties my music for me". He also asked Douglas to "correct any errors of judgement" in his music.
