He's Professor Trevor Dadson, a noted scholar who has written a pile of books about 16th Century Spain. Here's his Wikipedia entry. He has a street named after him in a town in the province of Ciudad Real.
His wife, who is Spanish, was the first to start the process of teaching me Spanish, at adult evening class in the 1980s.

In the constraints of the time and the format I think he did fine.
