Found: Miguel de Cervantes and his wife

Richard III - rivalling re-discovery in Madrid

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Quite amused to hear a PERfessor on the radio today describing Don Q and Sancho as the precursors of Laurel and Hardy, Little and Large, Morcombe and Wise and other such duos throughout history.

Yes - AND Cannon & Ball! Who these days has ever heard of Canon & Ball?! (I'm not even sure of the spelling of Bal!)

And why? Because one's tall and thin and the other's short and fat.

THIS GUY GETS PAID FOR DOING THIS!!!!!!

Cannon and Ball played in Robin Hood at the Anvil in Basingstoke, last Christmas.

Thought you would like to know !!

        Rock on Ferney.

Steady on Ferney. He was asked a typical final question, at the end of an excellent if brief (2 minutes by my car radio clock) interview, to sum up in a few seconds why Don Quixote matters today, or words to that effect - he was just saying he and Sancho Panza were a comic archetype. In the constraints of the time and the format I think he did fine.

He's Professor Trevor Dadson, a noted scholar who has written a pile of books about 16th Century Spain. Here's his Wikipedia entry . He has a street named after him in a town in the province of Ciudad Real.

His wife, who is Spanish, was the first to start the process of teaching me Spanish, at adult evening class in the 1980s.

Yes, I was rather irritated by this discovery. I mean look at the fuss that RIII created! Why can't these archaeologists just leave things be! Look at all the hornets that were brought out with RIII?

I think he's a bit annoyed that attention has been taken away from RIII

Yes I am. Now I am 50/50, Cali. Look at the fuss and the money and people's emotions that have been played out in all of this? Mine as well!

At least they're not burying Mr & Mrs Cervantes in bloody Leicester - or whatever the Spanish equivalent might be!
