Yes, it does appear that both Mr Jolly and Mr Lebrecht have been slightly misled, and in turn, we have.

At least M. Girard will have a lot of ammunition (and more than 2500 signatures) to use when he goes back to the committee and invites them to reconsider...

What's being talked about here is the next four years - those of the German Occupation of Paris.
        Right - thanks!

I've signed, of course - anjd sent out a round robin email to encourage others to do the same.

What an appalling way in which to insult the memory of so distinguished a French musician! - and on the slenderest of "evidence" (i.e. none whatsoever that one could reasonably call such).

Dutilleux was 97, not 98, when he died, incidentally.

He is confident that there will be a plaque; he's just accepted the reasons for delaying it. The citing of the 'propaganda' film music/ 'collaboration' with Vichy seems to have been the chief cause for anger. Recipient of the Grand Cross of the Légion d'Honneur… ?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'd say that's very unfair in this instance. NL rightly drew attention to a shameful decision, and his information came from the online petition. The article in Le Monde adds some useful clarification about who exactly was responsible for the decision-making process. I don't think there's any misrepresentation.

                          .
ANALYSE. Une plaque commémorative est refusée au compositeur, décédé en 2013, au motif qu’il a écrit la musique d’un documentaire commandé par le régime de Vichy.

It doesn't let me access the whole article (just the start of it), but from the headline this looks like very good news.

A "Guerilla Plaquiste" has created a plaque in laminated plastic and fixed it to the buidling.

Well, if indeed it is so, the tally of signatories has yet to stop rising, having passed the 5,500 mark earlier this afternoon.
