I was checking up on this. I'm not sure that such 'relationships' involved very young children though. 'Pederasty' (rather than paedophilia) involved teenagers or young men significantly younger than the erastes.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Come to think of it, that pretty much sums up my own profile from the externals - apart from being a bit beyond any mitigating middle aged demographic!
One of the many scary things about the treatment of Christopher Jefferies by the media back in 2010 was the way his profile - eccentric, a single person, and - worst of all - an 'aesthete' who didn't like sport was used against him by the media, notably the Daily Fail. I think most of us can see how we'd be treated if we ever landed in a spot of bother like that!

        Spot on, Conchis

That’s quite true. A good point. As for paedophilia, it does exist in Japan albeit not yet too widely acknowledged or surfaced as a type of crime.

No - I cannot see this. Why should the child suffer because of his father? Are you on a different planet from me?

It would be likely to be a problem anyway - as most likely the information would come out, and the boy/man will have to deal with it, but it's not his fault.

Oh, I see. OK. In that case I’ll change it to ‘the child will likely to suffer, or deeply distressed.

Interesting lexical point: if only jean were here! There was similarly a discussion on Radio 3 about 'shame' where two people disagreed as to whether 'shame' existed anymore. In fact they were interpreting the word in completely opposite ways. So with 'suffer' …

OK - I see it now, It's the use of the word "should" - hopefully your intended meaning was/is more in line with my sentiments.

I agree that the son will probably have problems at some time, but hope that somehow those can be minimised.

I do not believe that the sins of the father should be visited ... etc., and my hope is that you agree with me.

Are we now more or less in agreement, so that we can leave this somewhat unhappy aspect of the saga?

I am more than happy to leave the matter as it is here.

After digging into the tarnished history of the retrospect ensemble, I'll not be purchasing.

they will be called the Retrospect Ensemble. But until now they have been known by the far more famous name King's Consort.

From what I remember, this is incorrect. Retrospect Ensemble was formed as a new group when King was jailed, and as we know, they have remained as a separate ensemble whereas King’s Consort continued as if nothing had happened when King returned.

Thank you for the information. I obviously didn't keep up with things.

"Tarnished"? They don't exist any more, having morphed back into the King's Consort. That's all.

It seems upper middle class music professionals with a public school background, too often, get a free pass when it comes to paedophilia; and other musicians & journalists, of a similar background, are quite happy to consort with them & support them. Stay alert, check out the background of those you are throwing your money at.

                                Vote with your wallets.

It's not all about the music (and there's plenty of great music from the untarnished... the devil does not have all the good music...) Interesting that the Observer in 2007 published an article by an establishment poet supporting our highbrow paedophile, but this year the Guardian had a "long read" in the Guardian that harshly criticised this article:
