Dear me - and how time passes. 82! Mrs Proudie is the role I remember her for. According to Wiki/D Mail she declined a damehood - and OBE. She certainly deserved them.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Very sad news indeed. Looking at the roles she played, I have seen a fair few of them! I liked her in the Pride of Mrs Jean Broidie and Miss Marple. Both very compelling. I thought she should have received an honour but she declined both OBE and a Damehood! RIPDon’t cry for me

The list could go on and on - she'll be much missed.
RIP.

Peculiar - there were 3 BBC pages and all have disappeared. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
