    Radio 3 HD

    Hi!

This has been an almost constant delight for me since it started so I was sorry to find that, in the last day or so, the sound has become flaky - no buffering, just constant crackle.

I have performed a number of bandwidth tests and there is no problem there. I wondered whether the problem lies with the BBC?

    Best regards

I've had the same problems David and was wondering exactly the same thing.

We're not returning to the bad old days when an increase in Summer temperature meant bad reception, are we?

It is full of a terrible tearing/ripping distortion as I type.It was just as bad yesterday when the main work was Mahler 3.I ended up listening on FM instead with its very prominent Optimod compression.

I asked this question on the thread about this morning's BAL... but this seems a better place. What is Radio 3 HD? Is it via the internet? Forgive stupidity.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh I see. Thanks. Sounds good

I never use the player - if I'm listening live it will be FM or DAB depending on which room I'm in. Otherwise I just use the iPlayer. I must give it a try. When they've fixed it...

I wish I had seen this thread before uninstalling Firefox 4 in the mistaken assumption that it was the cause of the problem. It wasn't, and is now reinstalled. It would indeed appear to b4e the Beeb's fault. Lets hope they sort it out when they return to work on Monday, and apologise for the mess it currently is.

sent in a report via the R3 home page; lord what a palaver to get through all their precautions against actually having to answer anything .... actually BT is the world class leader in this and R3 looks amateur in comparison to the logic loops, delays, machine voices and general bs that BT deploy in order not to listen to a customer ...

this fault has been running for twenty four hours or so ... why has no one noticed ....mebbe there is a tweet about it ....

There's some complaining going on at the i-player site.

                        Hi everyone!

It looks as though the problem is fixed as the HD feed has been working fine here for the last 10 minutes or so. It would have been good to have had more information from the BBC though.

                        Best regards

Are the BBC's complaints handled by Andrew Everard at Gramophone, do you suspect?

                            Hi everyone!

Apologies for my previous post, the feed isn't fixed, I had my amplifier switched to DAB (I thought that the sound wasn't as good as I was used to, that's why I checked!).

Let's hope the BBC fix this on Monday.

                            Regards
