Thanks for the tip about iTunes, which plays the HD feed without trouble.

Glad to help. It also appears as an option if you have an Apple TV 2 - don't know about the original Apple TV.

        Bryn,

        Many thanks.

Excellent news that you have been able to get something through to Rupert Brun (assuming he reads it). He struck me as very good and dealt with our complaints extremely promptly last year when the HD Stream was first tried out during the Proms.

Many thanks indeed for the iTunes tip, Steve. I might just use that by default in future.

One other thing, because it's in iTunes, there's nothing to stop you adding it to a playlist for easy access.

Radio 3 via iPlayer is also broken.

So it is. I don't normally bother with the standard live stream, but agreed, that too is broken. Fortunately the 'listen again' files seem to play properly.

I never though I would find myself thanking Steve Jobs for providing iTunes, (I'm not an Apple fan), but it's unavoidable in this situation.

Oh dear. Looks like iTunes is not the answer after all. It keeps stalling, buffering, then crashing when trying to play the 320kbps aac stream. Looks like it's a case of no usable HD Sound stream until someone at the BBC eventually recognises there is a problem and sets about resolving it. Not good.

Not much help for you, but I'm having no problems here.

I have tried clearing the hard drive with CCleaner and resetting the cable modem. So far, so good, but my mistrust of all things Apple has returned, reinforced.

They can tell, you know, like dogs know when you're afraid ...

Followed your instructions, Steve, and it works a treat for me too
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I've discovered something very, very strange:

Using the normal browser interface both the standard iPlayer and the HD Sound streams are dreadfully garbled.

I've tried Triode's iPlayer plugin for Squeezebox Server and, as you would expect, the live HD Sound is also garbled there.

                          BUT

What should be the normal (non-HD) iPlayer live Radio 3 on Triode's plugin works perfectly and, even odder, it is actually being streamed at 320 kbps!

I cannot get the programmes on Live or HD. I have filled in the complaint form and sent it.

I don't have the equipment to check, but via iTunes the sound is very good. And yes, horrible sound via iPlayer.
