    That's very funny
According to an astronomer I met a few years ago the whole thing about Pluto being a planet was to do with whether any Americans had discovered planets. If it IS then they have discovered several if it ISN'T then they haven't discovered any.
So this bit is rather entertaining

It is likely the last time in our lifetimes that a new planet will be explored. This is more than scientifically important—though it certainly is that. It’s also a reminder of what American technology, culture and daring, on its game, can do.
    Shall we email Colin Matthews?

      Nice link Dave.

pluto will always be a planet as far as I am concerned....seems like it is anyway.

Incidentally, anybody know what powers this Pluto bound craft?

All fascinating stuff, but I will go right off this mission if they start telling me they can grow salad vegetables on Pluto.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

Shall do my best to follow this. Must of necessity be more gripping than the dreary space-station clips of paunchy lads tending a bank of laptops.
Sad to realise that life is routine wherever it takes place....

Looks like a rather interesting project this. I am glad that Pluto has been reassigned it's planetary status again!

I wouldn't go that far. It isn't even a sphere and it has an orbit more like a comet, on a completely different plane from all the major 8 planets.
