Tagalog - Manigong bagong taon(national language and also that of the Manila area)
Cebuano/Visayan - Mabungahong bag-ong tuig (second most widely spoken - main language of Mindanao and eastern Visayas)
Ilonggo/Hiligaynon/Capiznon - Maayong bag-ong tuig sa tanan (a language of the western Visayas and west Mindanao. Our 'home' language and Mrs Pabs' first language.)
Chabocano - Prospero año nuevo (a Spanish-based creole from Zamboanga)
Some that Mrs Pabs doesn't speak fluently:
Kapampangan - Masayang bayung banua
Gaddang - Mangamgam bawa a dawun sikua diaw amin
Pangalatok - Malikot ya balon taon
Tagakaulo - Aw mauntong na bago umay
Ilocano -- Naragsak nga baru nga tawen.
Except for Chabocano, these are all Malayo-Polynesian. I failed in an attempt to get our helper (live-in-maid, domestic) Marivic to translate it into T'boli. It's an indigenous language, more related to Papua New Guinea. But she was too shy (and flustered) to do it.
Now it's all over, I can come out and add my good wishes to everyone for 2015.
Yes, P&CA is now closed but it IS still visible - bookmarks work as always. I'll be posting further on Announcements but if there were ever a case of "two sides to an argument" ....
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
