I think quite a ,lot of the suggestions have been. Perhaps inflation should be allowed? £10 (or the equivalent - Thalers?) in Bach's Germany would be a tidy sum now, for example.

That's a nice idea, but I need to rein this in. The presents should be inexpensive and appropriate to the recipient (for good or bad )
