Best wishes to Cali from me too.
The downside for those of us who play Alphabetic Associations might be that he has more time to dream up ever more fiendish posers!

            Great stuff, Cali!

Now you'll have time to cycle round London to all those places you've never had time to visit - just like I do!

              Brilliant news!

I have been far less stressed since I gave up regular work and can now pick and choose locums.

People say I look better too (if that could be possible )

Congrats, EA. For some unaccountable and entirely illogical reason, I have always assumed that you are much younger than your retirement suggests

Best wishes to Caliban. probably a bit late now - perhaps he's/you've already gone to Pomeroy's.

Enjoy the freedom while it lasts.

And just think - you'll be able to listen to Radio 3 during the daytime …… oh, well … on the other hand, you may be too busy now
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Or perhapsh I was just leaving it... It was eyes down at 12.45 sharp

Certainly not too late, Dave - thanks to you and again to others. It was a very good day.

And perfect serendipity (thanks to daytime R3, ff! ) : as I rode into the office for the last time, in the sunshine alongside Green Park and then St James's Park lake, on came DF-D and Gerald Moore with Abschied from Schwanengesang: never really focused before on this cheerful Farewell... with a riding theme/accompaniment, what's more!

This piece is going to be permanently associated in my mind with today, which it sums up.

                      ...
Now I'm riding along by a silvery stream...
You've never heard a song full of sadness,
So you'll not hear one from me now as I go.
                      Farewell!
                      ...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Indeed only daytime R3 can save us .... now I understand why we had a 5 glorious days of Skellers - at the request of Rumpole for his last week .....

Good time to go I feel when Mrs Undercover got the DPP gig rather than the obvious candidate ...

Enjoy - as I have no doubt you shall ......

Yes. Now you will have more time to deal with the real trouble makers - on this forum.

                              Congratulations Cali

You'll probably find that you are busier now than at any time in the past. That's what retirement is all about.

I know that I speak for all our fellow members when I say that retirement does not mean that you have abandoned us.

                              Cheers!

If retirement really is busier than working life, then I'm glad I don't have any immediate retirement plans.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.
