    Retirement

Just to let you all know I'm retiring in two days' time. After just over 60 years in educational institutions, I'm finally going to "get a life".

Congratulations Alpie, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine and that your health is good, which always helps

It's a cliché but true nonetheless - you'll wonder very quickly how you ever found time to go to work

        Good luck with that!

Best wishes - though several other people I know have said that they find life gets busier, not what one expects.

I'm still trying to come to terms with my own retirement, after a year and a half, and for a while I seriously thought of looking for another job. That's still possible, though probably unlikely.

I have no real advice to give, but certainly go out with every intention of enjoying it, and if people say nice things about you when you leave, enjoy those too.

Not to be outdone by am51 -

            Congratulations and enjoy the change
BUT don't shy away from sharing your knowledge and experience, i've met several schools where all the skills and enthusiasm for music vanished when the charismatic teacher left.

I admit, that does bother me a little. I like doing what I'm good at.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

no more Sunday night blues would be great. fantastic stuff EA.

too much spare time on your hands is one reason why god gave us internet forums, I guess.

Now they can make BaL a three times a week affair.

That is a great point. Sundays have never seemed so relaxed and enjoyable.

I'm getting good at getting up later each morning!

You seem to be good at keeping us on our toes - I'm enjoying the modern recorder thread - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...dern-recorders

                        Keep them coming.

Reading all these comments makes me very jealous. I really have to try to stick it out for a few years yet.

My very best wishes to you, alpie, and I hope your retirement is long and fruitful.
