it has long been establisht that it shd be day/month/year.
We are currently 13 December MMXIV
There is even, I believe, a widely ratified Vienna [ ? ] Convention that the month shd be notated in roman numerals.
It is certainly wot I do.
So today is ectually 13 xii 2014.
The fact that our Amerikee second-cousins get this as so much else "wrong" is neither here nor there.
It isn't " 9/11" - that wd be the ninth of November.
They mean "11/9" ....

PS what you on about, charles t?"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I think it's an excellent graphic, and - OT - I'd apply it to the people at my place of work who have recently installed computer systems which show the date in that half baked illogical fashion.
And no, it can't be changed.

OK, the sequence of day-month-year is a seqence of the natural numbers: X, X+1, X+2. IE today is December [12] 13th 2014 US format.
When will it happen again [or when did it happen in the past] that a natural number sequence gives the date? EG 5 6 7 means 5th June 1907 [our way] OR May 6th 1907 his way. It seems that 1st February 2103 will be 1 2 3 our way!!
In US format the max number to start the sequence is 12 but in pur way it's 31. Now what about some palindromes? An abvious one is 11th November 1911. Writing the day and month as 01 02 03 etc limits possibilities.
I wouldn't mind being a Californian if this weather is going to stay!! But then where would I get some decent beer?? OTOH there is some good wine out there....Last edited by Gordon; 13-12-14, 17:19.
