    Google is marking it:

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I suppose it's because St Goerge is not a saint we normally commemorate. St George, OTOH....

One of Bbm's typos, SirV. It should, of course, have read "St Goer Gesday", a little-known saint from pre-Norman, Anglo-Saxon Northumbria, her many miracles healng elderly men are thought to be the origins of the expression "a bit of a Goer". She is celebrated in Milton Keynes (or, in the original Old English, "Gottwotthachytedumpdississ", or "the swamp of Gottwotha") on the same day as the real Patron Saint of England, St William. (As well as a certain Turkish chap, who never knew there was a place called England and who is chiefly renowned for his contribution to species extinction.)

Surely the theory lies in the angle, frequency and volume of the tipple.
