Fete is only once a year and very quiet today. They also clear up,picking up every scrap of paper that the council never bother about.

When are we allowed to say "Oh rain again". After so much moaning about the drought I haven't got the nerve.

Not much hope for the Queen's Club tennis though................ Good luck Andy Murray.

I went to Bournemoth. Talk about drowned rats.

Still the River Avon is filling up. I hope they keep the weirs high.

It rained all night and it's rained all day, plus high winds and decidedly chilly, under 10 degrees (49) so I just curled up and watched an episode of Morse followed by Midsomer Murders. How do so many people in such a small place get constantly murdered? Finally heavy rain has given way to drizzle.

Anna, I'm beginning to think the detectives do the murders to keep themselves in business!

Saly, that is the reason. Actually, I'm surprised there's anyone left in Midsomer (or Glasgow, for that matter. "There's been a murder" (Taggart) has been on the go for about 30 years).

On topic, I'm now on holiday. :cool2: I drove to Shropshire last night, through heavy rain and thick mist, but it's been a lovely day here today.

Have a lovely holiday, mangerton! Shropshire is my favourite county - along with Kent. If you are staying in the vicinity, if you haven't already done it, I strongly recommend a drive along the B4371, south-west from Much Wenlock, along the top of the Wenlock Edge escarpment, on a clear day affording spectacular views to the Welsh mountains to the west and across the Midland plain to the east, and on to Church Stretton. Imagine yourself into the mind of Vaughan Williams composing his song cycle of that name to AE Housman's poems - even though VW had never visited the place when he composed it!

Thank you, SA. I am in that vicinity, so shall do this, while also visiting Ironbridge and the Severn Valley Railway. BTW, I have discovered it's very good beer here!

I would love to be in Shropshire on a day like this. I must make do with the garden bench later and pretend the weeds and long grass aren't there.

Ah - but just think what you are doing for biodiversity, saly!

Ah, Shropshire. I fancy a bit of Bunburying myself.

Another uncertain day that doesn't know whether it's March or July. Shall have to get used to it. At least Wimbledon has one roof if not more. With no Freeview at the moment this year will be different, at least here.

What's happened to your Freeview, saly?

S_A, I drove along Wenlock Edge late this afternoon, stopping to admire the view. The sun was out, and it was a lovely drive and a great experience. Thank you very much for suggesting it.
