Oh, that's sad, Bbm - lovely and sunny up here in this bit of the Pennines.

A bit of mist in the morning usually means a nice day to come, at this time of year?

        Slovely here.

Two longish cycle rides - 12 miles each - to make best use of the nice, not too warm weather, while it lasts: one yesterday, the other this morning. Both times, on taking to foot my way up a few of the steeper gradients, I discovered that my left knee had gone out of joint - not quite as painful as it sounds, but at 71 this could put paid to what has for more than 40 years proved a most enjoyable and in other respects health-promoting activity.

Just a touch chilly here on the coast during my 6.00am walk. It's gorgeous now.

I think things do loosen up with age, but in my experience one can manage these things without too much discomfort by just hobbling gently for a while until it settles down. Bit drastic to be talking about giving up cycling just yet...

                  Don't sue me if I'm wrong :)

Yes, that's how it worked out, luckily. And you're right - cycling's been one of my lasting pleasures! Last autumn's Southwark Life showed a picture of Alastair, Dulwich resident, out cycling at 90. Perhaps I should just ease up a bit - 71 seems much too early to have to give it up!

With the sunny days we have had recently, albeit cold ones, you see us Brits(not me!), in t-shirts and shorts and some in flip flops for goodness sakes! it's April not high summer!!!

Indeed, BBM; and although temperatures aren't that warm, it's expected to warm up again on Saturday. Last Thursday's maximum of 22.6 C fell short of the March all-time record by a degree, it's likely to be matched again on Sunday. Even some of the larger trees around here are already coming into leaf!

                                a beautiful spring day here.

Perfect for new growth on the small area of lawn that we just laid , after 2 weeks, digging out , riddling, and generally mucking around with.

                                Such fun !
