Two longish cycle rides - 12 miles each - to make best use of the nice, not too warm weather, while it lasts: one yesterday, the other this morning. Both times, on taking to foot my way up a few of the steeper gradients, I discovered that my left knee had gone out of joint - not quite as painful as it sounds, but at 71 this could put paid to what has for more than 40 years proved a most enjoyable and in other respects health-promoting activity.

Last Thursday's maximum of 22.6 C fell short of the March all-time record by a degree, it's likely to be matched again on Sunday. Even some of the larger trees around here are already coming into leaf!Don’t cry for me

a beautiful spring day here.
Perfect for new growth on the small area of lawn that we just laid , after 2 weeks, digging out , riddling, and generally mucking around with.
Such fun !I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
