In Lancashire on the coast by the Irish Sea. It's the coldest I've felt all winter here today owing to the slight wind from the east. The winds here are usually westerly.

Advanced weather forecasts for the month of February, say that the month will see a barrage of storms hitting the UK, after the freeze. . There will be widespread flooding. Oh well, here we go again! Let's hope the Envoirement agency have done their job properly this time. We will wait and see!

Dreech oop 'ere, but a fair bit less cold than yesterday. Pity about the fells - someone seems to have made off with them.

Quite a loud crack of thunder here at around 4 pm - not quite believing my ears went outside to witness a truly spectacular piled up storm cloud edge just passing overhead, with a few large pea-sized hailstones falling, and very black to the south. The temperature reached 10 C earlier on, making it feel almost springlike.

I just hope BBM's anticipated stormy weather holds off a bit longer, as I have a jazz gig to attend in Croydon tomorrow afternoon, only reachable by bike, a distance of some 4 miles each way.

Ah, now I see what they did: yesterday they disappeared the fells oop 'ere because they wanted to cover them with snow without my noticing overnight.
                Which is what they've done.

A beautiful, sunny morning here in this bit of the Pennines - temperatures risen to the giddy heights of 4 degrees and none of the biting air that cut through the layers on Thursday. Quite a bit of frost overnight in the more exposed parts of the neighbourhood, but it either didn't reach this little sheltered bit, or it's been burnt off by 11:00 am. Lovely Winter's day here.

I hope the weather won't be too bad this week, as the forecasters say, as I have a trip up to the Royal Marsden tomorrow!!

I can sympathise, BBM. I have to be in hospital in Inverness at 7.30am on Thursday 6th Feb to have a kidney tumour zapped. We are sixteen miles away, so I am hoping that there is no snow around.

I trust that your visit will be OK.

I think you should be OK travelwise tomorrow, alycidon - and best wishes, also, to yourself. Hope all goes well.

Thank you, SA, but you have mixed me up with the Maestro. His is tomorrow, mine not until 9th Feb.

                                But thank you, anyway.
