A really vicious, cold wind today making the temp plunge by several degrees to near freezing. Couple that with some heavy rain and it's not been a nice day at all.

Hoping for a really good summer this year what with it being the 40th anniversary of THAT summer in 1976. After the dismal efforts of the past few years we really are due a good one.

      40th Anniversary, Pet? Gosh!

Certainly a great start to the day here, but towards lunchtime, turned for the worse!!

A weekend of April showers is almost guaranteed; next week promises to warm up a bit, but with the air coming up around a large low expected to take up residence in the Bay of Biscay, I imagine there'll be more thunderstorms around.

I hear from my friend that it's bitterly cold and snowing in Toronto right now, following what by their standards has been a pretty mild winter.

Some really nice thunderstorms gathering to the north west here now and slowly encroaching like an advancing army - black clouds, lightning registering all over the map and first rumbles being heard. Thank goodness I got my shopping in earlier!

... yes, nice! Except that they seem to have upset my BT hub

One sferic just 3 miles to the west of here, and then all the energy just seemed to drain out of the storm, which brought ten minutes of moderate rain here and dropped the temperature from 10 C to 7 C, but that was all, despite having looked so promising.

The name always makes me think it sounds like a charity organisation. Polar opposites, or what!

Went to see the massed bands of HM Royal Marines at the RAH, London, last night. Brilliant, ofcourse!

Woke up to a rather dismal damp start to the weekend! Typical!

A lovely spring day hereabouts! Went to a rather nice country pub, called The Onslow Arms, right by the Arun & Wey Canal. Gerneous portions for the lunch and Badger beer, First Call.

Dry with plenty of sunshine today but completely ruined by a cold, cold wind which really pushed those temperatures down to what felt like single figures. The sun can be very deceptive at this time of year but up here in the Midlands we are struggling to get out of winter. A slight lift in temp is promised for mid-week after which it falls back again.

Could really do with a pleasant few days as this doesn't feel much like April at all. Berghaus and woolly hats still the norm up here!

A very misty start to the day, but clear sunshine from 10:00 onwards. Too nice to stay indoors, I went to Saltaire for a walk around the village, park and up to Shipley Glen (the lovely fairground there now replaced by some new Legoland housing ). Got rather warm - the first time this year I've ventured out with a lighter weight coat than my Winter wrappings - but still an edge to the air: definitely not Ice Cream weather, for all the optimism of the various vans around.

Much cooler now - but aren't these lighter evenings welcome!

Cold windy and wet here most of the day and in the last hour a thunderstorm with heavy hail.

                              Hale fellow well wet!

I've been watching those storms creeping in from the SW all evening on the live lightning map. Most unusual to have those sorts of storms with temperatures still so low.
