Originally posted by Anna View PostThe last legs of storm Gertrude I think, it was awful here too. Still plenty of yellow and amber warnings for Scotland (it seems yesterday Dundee had 80mph winds!!) and lots more wind problems over the UK on Monday it seems, but not too much in the way of rain. Today's been rather nice and sunny but a lot colder.
Today it's overcast, 2º C, but quite windless.
By the way, I really don't get this naming storms. What is the point?

However, I am against it for the simple reason of the boy who cried Wolf, because no storm affects all the UK at the same time, illustrated by Petrushka above saying it's just been a damp squib - we'll get so used to dismissing and ignoring named storms as not affecting us that when a proper one strikes we'll be all at sea unprepared.
Having said all that mangerton, there's a nasty orange wind warning sitting on top of Scotland for Monday and Tuesday!

It's a damn nuisance when the road bridge shuts, as a lot of people use it on a daily basis and it's a long detour via Perth. I want to visit Aged Mother in St A tomorrow morning before work, so I hope all is well.

Mixed day today in this bit of the Pennines: clear skies and sunshine this morning - right up to the point when I was furthest from home on my walk, at which point the heavens opened with a downpour of heavy drizzle. This stopped about half-an-hour after I got back in, and the sun came back out - y'know: daring me! Very windy and overcast since it saw I wasn't going to accept the challenge.Numquam Satis!
