Alternatively, can't threads have a limit so especially long ones have the oldest posts just falling off the edge in time? Is this possible with vBulletin settings?

Having said that, I have no problem loading this thread and eleven seconds loading time is hardly that much of a problem.

and you can always multi task , and start the laborious process of loading the " Whats On " page of the Southbank Centre site, which seems to have redefined "Slow" .

Such an archive would be both useful and interesting in building up an overview of how weather conditions are changing - confirming/confounding what we think we remember.

No it isn't - but there would be no problem at all if it was to be made as "immediate" as other Threads.

Wow, anyone leaving SE of oop 'ere is in for some wet nastiness.
Fells invisible, fine haar, mixed with clouds of tiniest fiercely driven rain that gets into everything even through over trousers.

Mildish with odd glimpses of sunshine here, but increasingly breezy. Just back from my last stroll in the nearby woods this year, in all probability, given the amount of muddiness and the wet season anticipated.

Some very mild and sunny weather over the past few days here in the Pennines and the Calder Valley - completely different (thankfully) from the dull, overcast rain that has been forecast. But at 2:00pm today, the skies suddenly darkened, and the temperature dropped from 11 degrees to 8.5, and the dreary drizzle began.

Temp here now is VERY cold, nearer 3C and dropping. Winds unsociable and ill-manneredly intrusive.

Very heavy rain this evening on the way back from work and, naturally, today had to be the one day I forgot to pack the over trousers

Petrushka, that sounds a good idea.

today, we have a good day down here, so far(a blue sky!) I won't be saying that three lettered word, just yet, as it may be too soon!

Admin, what you think of Pet's idea?

Oh - I don't think it's at all a good idea to go out without overtrousers - the rain is sweeping down in this gale here in the Pennines.

Seriously - I don't like the idea of chopping off the "archive" of a Thread: you b=never know when you might want to see what weather was like 74 months ago!

BUT - I'm intrigued by Alpie's (I think it was - can't find it now) suggestion of changing the settings so that Threads load "most recent first", which I think will resolve all problems (such as they are) without necessitating the creation of a new Thread. This would have worked with "WRUListening2", too.

So - if anyone can inform/remind me how to do this, please. (It's not as if I'm venturing outdoors on a day like this!)

Thank you, subby - that works.

Now (of course) everything's in reverse order, so I'll have to get used to doing things "back-to-front" - a bit like steering a barge: it seems counter-intuitive at first.

But will Michael Green and Sebastian Fox be continuing in their roles?

At least there is still time for him to try to be the new Joe Strummer in a reformed Clash with his cousin Mick Jones.

I keep being told that El Nino will ensure this is a terribly cold winter with weeks of snow.

Sounds dreadful so please tell me that this "fact" is merely newspaper speculation.

The Clash now mainly operates in HM Opposition's front bench.

Newspaper speculation, rest assured - a speciality especially of the Daily Depress, conjured up in their tea breaks no doubt. Or tea leaves in teacup breaks.
