Storm Barney apparently. At current rate of progress what odds on reaching Storm Zebedee by Christmas?

Rainy here but not enough to deter me from taking my bike to this evening's choir practice. Enjoyed two pints of Proper Job from St Austell Brewery afterwards, a very tasty hoppy ale, after which I returned home fairly wet but not soaked.

The expected rain arrived just after midday here, and is now almost in the heavy category. It's dark enough indoors to require lights on, but the strong forecast winds have not yet come. Half the upstairs lots have heeded my emailed warning and cleared their balconies.

Raining here too and the wind looks like it's beginning to pick up but nothing much. The forecast for the evening and overnight here looks much worse but no doubt we will survive.

Just got home in time from a hospital appointment this morning. Not proposing to venture out again however reproachfully the dog stares into my eyes...it is very wet and very blustery and getting worse!

Pretty windy last night but it had dropped completely by early morning. Picked up again just a touch later but despite areas of the West Midlands reportedly having power cuts and overhead railway lines brought down, it's been a non-event here. SA and Brummie Simon are right about the hysteria-inducing names given to these storms. It's an excuse for the media to go into panic mode, as if there wasn't enough of that to be going on with anyway right now.
