Yesterday was rather good. I fear this may not last......

Pet's "23 degrees" is remarkable - here in the Pennines, we've managed 16 at the most (on Tuesday) this past week; and with misty mornings (and "yellow warnings" from the Met office). The afternoons have cleared up, and there's been some gorgeous sunshine: the barometer has gone as far past the "Very Dry" marker as I've ever seen it over the past few days.

Drooped to "Fair" this dull morning, with all-day cloud and maximum temperatures of 12 degrees forecast - and the rains start on Monday.

We have now quite thick fog, where we are.

Foggy, still, cold, dry. What a difference a day makes.

A glorious day once again. There isn't a cloud in the sky, no wind and temperatures around 20 degrees. A better day by far than anything we had in what passed for summer.

Thanks, S_A! Weather was stormy indeed but not nearly as bad as had been predicted. Today we have bright sun and warmish temps in the 60s F. All the best, marthe

Yes, a sequence of lovely days here too, including yesterday and today. Had cause to cycle round Hyde Park the past two afternoons - idyllic!

Dull and cold all yesterday in this bit of the Pennines (between Leeds and Skipton) - cool and sunny today; a lovely October's day.

Promised rain arrived overnight, bringing with it the palaver of dog towel for muddy paws once again. But warm and gentle enough so far.

Fierce SE wind, droves of rain, real autumn arrives in one mighty stride.

S_A and other 'Stormy Weather' jockeys - hope you did better than me at the first two questions in the 'Precipitation' round in tonight's University Challenge! The third question was a doddle though

The rain stopped just in time here in North Wilts for me to risk using my bike to get to this evening's choir practice and it was still clear after I left the pub an hour ago after a couple of pints Jail Ale from the Dartmoor Brewery.

You won't catch me watching University Challenge, Cali: "All other vices", as me dad used to say whenever offered cigarettes.
