Finally reached for the pullover and heater switch here as well. A truly terrible day, beyond belief dire. Temperatures have never exceeded 15 degrees and been raining for much of the day.

It must be the coldest end of July day I can remember. Unbelievable.

Even though it's a Friday, everyone in the office has felt glum.

Not a drop of rain 'oop 'ere all day, hazy moon tonight, coolish outside, but walkable.

Rain finally ceased here after a final downpour at around 7.30. The strong winds forecast haven't yet materialised.

It poured everywhere I went in London today.
the thought of a late night drive home through lots of standing water and rain , and the non existent high winds put me off tonights Prom.
Mind you, leaving at the interval might have worked.....

Just your luck, TS - the first time it's rained properly in London for weeks!

A meeting meant I missed tonight's Prom, which looked interesting, but will give it a go tomorrow. TBH these days I prefer the Cadogan Hall afternoon ones. I never book ahead, just chance it (if I'm up to going) by turning up an hour beforehand. If it's fully booked there's normally a queue of hopefuls outside, which takes about half an hour to reach the front, where with any luck one can step into any lapsed bookings.

44 mm rain here today - more than half of the month's total so far. WOMAD is just a few miles down the road from us and must have had a good drenching. Just listening to it on R3. It doesn't seem to have dampened their enthusiasm. We were in Cologne midweek for a birthday party and it was stiflingly muggy with 23C at night.
