Well, it is cold enough here at noon today for my breath to seem like wisps of steam while out walking. And it's raining that specially fine har that soaks in minutes driven by a brisk 'breeze' [ahem!]

Become a bit calmer now. Still very overcast and slightly showery.

A wet and very windy day again.

And tonight both VERY cold, plus 'wind', and on the tops, even the hint of sleet.

Sunny intervals, I would think you would describe this morning. We probably going to have rain later.

Extraordinary microclimate you must have Bryn! Never heard of hawthorn coming out that early. Blackthorn, yes.

In these parts, Wilts/Hants border, the may is just beginning to make its annual display - tad later than last year, but with every sign of being as spectacular.

Our third thunderstorm of today currently underway. Not that much thunder, but hailstones nearly a centimetre across produced a totally white lawn in about 5 minutes just now. The temperature has taken a dramatic tumble - from 14 Celsius a couple of hours ago to just 4 C now. There were even a few large snowflakes - distinguishable from the hail by their slowness of descent and almiost instant melt on landing. Amid all this dramatic weather, the strangest thing was watching the air temperature hit dewpoint on a bit of road secluded by surrounding trees from the wind, about an hour ago, in the form of "steam" spiralling up to create temporary fog from the road surface.

What a drab and dismal May this is turning out to be. Very windy again here, some early drizzle this morning and it's none too warm either. Heating back on and Berghaus ready.

Ok here in Suffolk. Pleasant start getting cloudy but still fairly warm. Pleasant on the coast although a bit blowy. No rain.

Mixed bag here today, but ending up pleasant if cool, and with this interesting cloud formation drifting over TS Towers around 8.15 PM

Yes, ts, wonderful! We had similar this weekend but no undue. Although the ground looks as though it could do with the wet stuff!

Altocumulus, probably at around 10,000 feet - associated with a breaking up cold front which crossed the country yesterday, bringing about 5 minutes' worth of slight rain here at teatime. There's also a fragment of lower level stratocumulus in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture.

Coolish here today, sunny intervals and a gentle NW wind, 16 degrees C - which just about settles what it's going to be like for the rest of the week, Thursday apart, when it will be wet and very windy everywhere.
