Hi saly - lovely to hear from you.
Bands of cloud rapidly gathering to the south west ahead of tonight's big blow - straight in with stage two in advancing fronts by the book, no messing with cirrus, sun haloes, pillars, or other forewarning signs.

A very light dusting of snow this morning in the Pennines - looks very scenic.
Yes Ferney, very close to Hampden Park....in fact so close that I can actually get a train to Hampden Park should I wAnt to, £27 return from near Salisbury, which is a bargain, though it is 3 changes .
i'll give it a wave from you next time I am there. must get down to the front next time and actually enjoy the place for once.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

Really blowing like the clappers here nr. Bodmin Moor. No risk of snow I think.
This morning we were very white, half an inch maybe but it was mainly if not entirely hail, which came last night with plenty of thunder and lightning, much to the delight (abject panic) of one of my dogsI keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

looked at forecast and decided Tues was best day to use boat from IoM to UK (apart from first 30mins or so when cups, computers etc decided that they didn't want to stay on table, it turned out a pleasant crossing with the boat in early tho with very few passengers) - today's boats were cancelled and with winds forcast to peak to storm force 10 in N Irish sea tonight suspect tomorrow's boats will not run.

Commiserations. Funerals are bad enough without dreary weather.
The snow has reached Glasgow at last! Intermittent showers with sunshine between, & a nice layer of snow on the ground - not too deep. Isn't it strange how quiet it is even with just a little snow? Looking forward to a walk with the dog in Pollok Park later on. He enjoys a good roll in the snow.

Anna
Early this week the Daily Depress promised that killer storm "Rachel" would be worse than St. Jude and Bertha .... well down here, although we had snow falling on ice making it treacherous for a while on roads and pavements (and the Black Mountains were totally covered and gleaming white), the gales weren't any worse than a normal winter, the main problem's been very heavy overnight rain, particularly last night. This morning, beautiful, sunny, felt really warm as no wind, now it's not much over 4° but still sun shining brightly. Snow promised here coming in during early hours and certainly the outlook seems much colder, but, as S_A says, nothing to frighten the horses.
