Always nice when you pitch up and have a moan, Zuckers! Makes me feel I'm doing something right!

To be fair to them, once temps day and night are expected to be above a certain level and officially classified as a 'heatwave' they are obliged to issue a warning. Although some of the screaming headlines in the redtops make you think no-one from the UK has ever ventured to Australia, Africa, Barbados, or even Greece etc., etc., without dying of heatstoke within hours of arrival.

Yesterday evening we had light rain after a day which although mainly cloudy reached just about 22° leading to an early morning mist, it's now 23° with plenty of fluffy white clouds drifting along, slight breeze, very pleasant.

Last night's "Operation Cloud Lab: Secrets of the Skies", first of 2 programmes on BBC2, was truly excellent. It is followed tonight by "Horizon: What's Wrong with our Weather?", also on 2 at 8 pm.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms reaching the SW aproaches are expected to hit Anna during tonight!

I see that Nigel Lawson has been called to heel by The Charity Commission ...

A climate-sceptic group founded by former Conservative Chancellor Lord Lawson is to relaunch after a complaint about its charitable status.

We can now expect even stranger-than-usual stuff to emanate from the non-charitable arm, I guess

Off to the Proms tomorrow with a trip to Newbury Races planned on Saturday and looks like I'll have to pack for every eventually bar snow. 'Intense thunderstorms' on Saturday, according to the Beeb, and I'm not liking the sound of that!

Nigel Lawon gets to resemble his Spitting Image puppet more and more as time passes and he crumples into his suit, I've noticed.

Well retiring late here in the Metrollops after the first of a few days off, there's been thunder and lightning constantly for the past 30 minutes... and since I started typing this sentence, the rain has just started to bucket down....

S_A - ever seen lightning forking upwards?!

Dramatic one on the BBC website of Canary Wharf in the early hours:
