Well no doubt excellent advice, so thanks for that.
Would presumably work well with a morning drive to glasgow airport.

      Och, Good Aftable, Consternoon!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Think I will stick with a Celtic croissant and a cappuccino tomorrow, and make sure the haggis gets polished off tonight.

(Hope you made that deadline ok, Cals).

Right, off for an aperitif on the veranda , looking out over the Sound of Sleat.

(Wasn't that a K Tel TV advertised album back in the 70's?)

It's threatening rain here after a string of sunny days. S_A I've only just caught up with the news of your bicycle accident. I'm glad you're OK. I hate the idea of helmets but please do wear one. Cycling has become quite popular in Newport and today is "Ride Your Bicycle to WorK" day. Traffic here is a delicate balance between motorists and cyclists. Tourist traffic and narrow one way streets make things interesting as well. Our high season starts this weekend as we celebrate Memorial Day on Monday. The beaches open for business and the tourists pour into town.

Just catching up with all the goings-on here.

S_A, I hope you're feeling better. That accident was nasty.

ts, it sounds as though you've had a Fine Time. I hope the drive to Glasgow goes well tomorrow. It's certainly a scenic journey. Don't worry about the funny beer names. Heavy = bitter, more or less. I hope you got the chance to sample some of the local brews.

Working tomorrow, 8 - 4, but then off for a whole week!! Plockton on Tuesday, and I hope to see a few seals too.

That'll be sponsored by Norman Tebbit, presumably.

Goodness! He might scare a few tourists away.

Yesterday, around 9am, the weather closed in, the cloud descended and the rain never stopped. By late afternoon we'd had 18.5mm (3/4" in old money) It cleared for a couple of hours, rained most of the night, tipping it down now. Consequently the ground is once again saturated, I now have more plants on the back doorstep waiting to be bedded (Peaches & Cream Heuchera, Scabious, 5 pots of herbs plus my Evison Clematis that Caliban gave the thumbs up to!!) Forecast is for rain most of the day but ok tomorrow and very nice on Monday.

Nice to see you back marthe, have a good Memorial Day and teamsaint, looking forward to your pictures in due course.

It's no fun planting out in waterlogged soil, Anna!

Here we had a cluster of thunderstorms pass over a couple of hours ago with sudden strong downdraughts, bringing temperatures down from 16 C to 12 C in less than an hour, right across the whole region, as has clearly shown up on the hourly sequence on the BBC weather site. Localised drops would be expected, but this must be pretty unprecedented!

Oh gawd Some people are not having fun! Poor you Anna!

At least in my area now, the weather not too bad. Although a few heavy showers were had.
