How true Gordon! Why oh why is this country never prepared?

Apart from that, as usual, on this my full day at work, the golden orb is doing a brilliant job today! :)

BBM, the golden orb is having a hard time of it here in RI. It's just barely peeking through an overcast sky. It was quite frigid last night so our "dusting" is still lying on ground and pavement.

I had to google that to find out about 'chad' in relation to US ballot papers! Chad was also a cartoon man who hung over a wall and said 'Wot! No Bananas?' but is no relation to 'Kilroy was here' I then found broad beans should be planted on St. Chad's day and that St. Thomas More is the patron saint of politicians (the things you learn on this forum)

Anyway, today is St. Piran's Day so greetings to all our Cornish friends. Nice couple of days, mainly blue and sun, yesterday reached a high of 11.4°, this morning heavy frost and just 0.8° at the moment, bright but mainly light cloud later, seems we are indeed on an upward path regarding temperatues and dryness.

Indeed it is St Piran's Day, Anna - I hope Petroc suitably 'bigged it up' on Breakfast! It will be celebrated widely in the Duchy. These started last Saturday - I was busily involved in two venues.

What ever hapened to The Golden Egg chain of restaurants? Anyone remember those?? I imagine the cholesterol factor would be a disincentive to anyone thinking up such a name today!

On topic, yes, several days of dry weather and comparative warmth for the time of year, and that is expected to spread up across most of the country next week. It's payback time!

Probably went the way of some Little Chefs and closed, I know of several abandoned LCs, some where you'd expect business to be good, but one or two have been re-opened by locals. We used them on holiday trips when the children were young but they gradually became expensive.

Today we have bright sunshine although a bit chill out of it, with some fluffy white cloud floating by!! Little or no wind. Good washing day!!

Neither the Golden Orb nor Golden Egg visible in these parts. Ash Wednesday (thank you Anna for info about St. Piran's Day) is rather "ashen." Up the road a bit, we have the International House of Pancakes aka IHOP. This fast-food chain features calorie-laden, all-you-can-eat breakfasts featuring pancakes, waffles etc. Yesterday, the HH and I enjoyed the requisite pancakes at home.

A lovely week so far in the Manchester area.
Dry, sunny and quite warm at times today.

Just in time for the Cheltenham Festival. Gold Cup day last year saw some awful weather but Cheltenham week is often the turning point from winter to spring.

I imagine that in the kind of winter you are currently experiencing, there could be quite a lot of saving on energy bills by switching off fridges, marthe!

Slightly overcast today, with a cloudy golden orb, trying it's best to come though. had done a brilliant job, earlier but clouds have gathered. Three days in a row!?!?!?
