It was lovely to be out and about walking this morning under a blue and sunny sky (although the wind was enough to slice your ears off) but home just before the rain started and it looks set in for the day. I can report that the Black Mountains on the Welsh side were well and truly white and sparkling whereas those on the Herefordshire side merely had a slight dusting on the tops. So far it seems as if the coastal flooding has been averted. (Best of luck with the nags Pet!)
Edit: January rainfall here totalled 189.5mm

I'd be proud to be related to Bobby (of Pontypool RFC and Wales) Bbm

OT, dark clouds gathering, wind picking up but dry as yet

Brave man, BBM! You're not getting a picture of me on here no matter how much you pay me!

Temp here now 2C having peaked at a whole 3C two hours ago.
Ferocious SE wind - why do they keep telling the North that the winds are coming from the S. West? Not here they aren't - and it is a vicious, vicious easterly at that with shovels of rain in it and cutting to the bone.

No rain in daylight so far today, still light at 17:00 and no street lights on yet - most heartening

Later: street lights on at 17:03

A really nasty wind this afternoon, impossible to walk into it! The sun has long disappeared and the wind and rain rip your face to shreds. Very, very unpleasant.

Been watching the racing from Ffos Las - weather from there has moved up here!

Well considering the rents & Council Tax paid round here ...

I can't imagine how anyone would have managed to stay on a horse today, let alone raced . As they say where I used to live, you wouldn't put a fox out of a henhouse on a day like this.

                            Anna
Last night before I went to sleep
Looked out the window and what did I see
But a Christmas postcard scene with snow!

                            Woke up this morning
                            All gone.
                            But you were right
                            Weren't you?
Didn't you say there would be snow
                            Before the end of January?

The wind has certainly speeded up now. Candles anyone?

I did indeed, but I said January 30th, so was a day out. This afternoon, fierce squally showers, high winds, unpleasant but afternoon spent watching rugby so who cares?
