    Hello there

Stormy outside at the moment - what with most of Nanjing exploding Chinese New Year's Fireworks

    Best Wishes,

Well, I have the colour in my mind, difficult to describe. It's like the shallows on a Caribbean beach, where the water is a little bit blue, a little bit green as you look down at the white sand - can you picture what I'm thinking? Light, delicate, sophisticated. (It's for the dining area)

This isn't quite right. Darker I think?

That's more on the right lines, your first was far too dark, I'm looking at the shallows where the colour is very, very, subtle. (lovely beach though <sigh emoticon>)

If this works, how about this colour?

Flay, you are being very sweet in helping but again, far too much depth of colour (at the moment I have quite a strong colour, I want it totally different) I want it very light, subtle but not nondescript. But there's the ceiling and coving to do first - dislike doing ceilings!

It would make one's room look small, I'd think.

Still raining here, at a windless 6 degrees C - almost cold enough for gloves on the bike as I came back with the week's groceries. Last night the temperature had dropped to a very sleety 3 C by midnight. Thank heavens I got all the shopping done, if tomorrow's forecast is to be believed!

Snowdrops out here, as is our honey-scented Viburnum; I even caught sight of some toadflax in flower!

Well, you are loads warmer than here! We've been flatlining at 3.4° since 11am - it was warmer at midnight at over 4°, still windless, dull, misty. Haven't seen an updated forecast, but they promised dire things last Friday and Sunday which just didn't happen - so we shall see. Noticed lovely Winter Jasmine this morning but fewer snowdrops than previous winters, probably not been cold enought for them (not sure I'd recognise a toadflax)

No Flay, that's far too green and chalky! But correct on lightness. Now, enough of colour swatches, I'll know it when I see it.

Initially I was thinking about a "feature wall" which would be darker. Still, I've discovered how to get a specific colour off a picture using Microsoft Paint and then copy it to Dropbox so the time was not wasted.

Gloomy in S. Yorks with drizzle, no wind, 3 degrees.

South looks as though it will get another battering this weekend! :(

The government is all too quick in sending relief to other counties, but have they not taken their time to see to their own!?!!??

I agree with that, BBM - as, even, does Brummie Simon, who for a change is not slagging people off for speaking of records being broken, as he doubtless strips down to the buff and breaks the ice to join his mutt for a soak in the bird bath... It looks like Aberystwyth is in for another hit along its prom tonight, and us getting our strongest winds tomorrow afternoon. No let-up anywhere, really, until the second half of February at earliest.

I don't think even ("even" ) the government can do much about the accumulated after-effects of 200 years of industrialised pollution; and, beholden as they are to this international system of bankers etc they're so privileged to live by, they have to help other countries, part of the equation, to keep 'em all sympathetic-like and on board.

Frankly, I'd hope that we'd help our fellow beings in need, whatever system we lived under, but so much suffering is down to the impoverishment our turning the gaze the other way has brought about, encouraged by having to buy obsolescent goods made by impoverished unregistered labour elsewhere, that our consciousnesses are pricked whenever corruption and starvation are brought to our attentions. It would be better if we had supported peoples trying to alleviate their lot in the facetiously-named "developing world", because the consequences of not having done so are now coming home to roots in the karmic guises of nationalism and religious extremism.

After watching her on Questiontime, I say, Kate Smurthwaite for Prime Minister!
