It's been amazingly warm today - over 12° and the heavy rain that was forecast to sweep in has not materialised yet (Monday looks horrendous rainly still)
So this morning I went to the Big City (ok, I went to Hereford!) because I wanted to get some underwear for Christmas from M&S - mission accomplished - but imagine my reaction just now when a friend told me that M&S have 30% off everything online for today only!!

Mild here, but not wet and windy...yet. Petrushka, I agree about the quality of clothing made these days. It really has everything to do with manufacturers wanting to cut costs (even at the higher end) and far less to do with wage slaves making the stuff in far flung parts of the globe. A friend, who is in the rag trade (her ex-husband and she own a mill in Fall River, MA) told me that it's all about maximising profit by cutting corners. One example of this is using clear nylon thread instead of thread/cotton that matches the garment. This cuts down on time and motion because the spindles off thread can be used to stitch any colour of garment without having to be changed (taking up time and motion to do so.) I've bought dressy knit shirts for work from a mid/high-end retailer that have frayed within a very short period of time. The fabric is very thin and the stitching comes undone in no time. Rant over.

My Berghaus zip has also failed - but it's years old - I just use the poppers to fasten, but I have a new 3-in-1 by Regatta

The upside is that I'll get time to see my blurays of Broadchurch and read the new Rebus which have both been here since early in November.

It's all right, Anna. Richard has omitted to inform the forum of his change of tax exile.
