Here by comparison it appears we are in for a coldish and rather cloudy but mainly dry week night frosts more likely the further west and daytime temps around the 6-8 C mark, which is not far from the norms.

At 6.5 C and a northerly at an estimated 12 mph (by me!) a little colder than yesterday's midday, but at least the sun has come out. Stratocumulus with some convective cumulus below not breaking through the inversion, and thin altocumulus patches above, therefore dry. I wonder how long before they announce "drought"! "Brummie Simon" is now tentatively predicting rather cold weather for the middle of December; he's added a comment about the forthcoming wind and rainstorm in the States.

.... apocryphal, vindepays?"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

One always has to remember that colder more often than not denotes more settled, so that would reduce the chances of snow if cold is expected.

Yesterday's fierce wind brought one of our venerable trees down. We came home from a drive over to the waterfront and found a tree on the house! We're waiting to hear from the insurance gurus so that we can call in an arborist or tree removal expert. The HH is already estimating possible cords of wood for the fireplaces.

Oh dear Marthe....yes HH obviously got his eye on the prize....wood....but unfortunate manner in which to obtain this bounty....hope that damage is relatively minor and that you have not got a gale blowing through the house....best regards to you and I hope you get a swift decent builder to put it all right quickly....
