People sitting in the sun outside our little cafe - I was tempted to join them but the prices of their coffee deterred me.

If I'd had a friend with me I would have stayed abit.Lovely day so far.

Thanks, I think, as most of the customers look, and possibly are, as old as me they would go broke.

I saw some of Hilda Tablet mercia thanks but I'm having trouble with youtube. I actually signed in with password etc as they insisted on it. Made no difference.
Young techie cousin was very cross with me.

I remember that I have seen those spinners, thaks mercia! Another sweep contacted me last night, it seems the general advice is that redundant flues should be capped, not cowled, and I need a general builder to do this. So, at first light I emailed a local one, hopefully I should hear back this evening, if not I'll just have to ring round.

Ontopic, reasonably nice day, not quite as sunny as yesterday but 17° The yellow Met warning for rain tomorrow (edit: it's obviously on its way as suddenly the black clouds are building up so perhaps my next words are now wishful thinking!) looks like I'll just be on the edge of it and the horrendous stuff for Sunday/Monday now has a Met Amber but that's for the SW, SE and E, again it looks as if I (hopefully) will not get the worst of the storm as I'm only in the yellow zone Tuesday and rest of next week look pretty normal, bit showery, nothing too extreme.
(saly, I've never had to sign in to YouTube either - but then you sign in to iplayer don't you? Something to do with cookies?)

Sounds like an idyllic scene from rural France, saly!

A row of cafeterias with awning-protected tables out front, next to what was once two public conveniences (now apparently a flat!!!) opposite the bus station, is Crystal Palace's answer to the Rive Gauche in Paris. My friends are always most impressed...

Well,S_A it's nice enough with a striped awning and chairs inside and out. I think they are trying to corner several markets- they sell quality ornaments and large, very large animals intended for the garden. One, now sold was a 6 ft kangaroo which got in the way rather.

Just waiting for a visitor on a day like today,

Lovely sunny day here and better than yesterday as there was little or no wind. Expect I've had my last lunchtime stroll of the year as the forecast for tomorrow into Monday is looking grim.

Sunny and remarkably warm here right now - 16 degrees C: I'll have to check if it breaks any records this afternoon. We're going to pay for this: these huge lumbering low pressure systems stay in situ long enough to drag contrasting air from further south and north than was commonly the case when I began keeping records in the mid-70s, and the resultant clash along the boundary lines winds up developing weather systems like nobody's business. Who gets clobbered is dependent on which direction is taken by these depressions and where the steepest part of pressure gradients is in relation to the centres - usually to the south. I've sent out an email to all 14 flat holders here advising them to secure balcony plants on Sunday or bring them indoors, along with prams, push chairs etc.
