So I prescribe: porridge topped with raisins and chopped apricots for breakfast, a prawn sandwich on oat bread for lunch, chili con carne with brown rice for dinner and date and walnut cake for supper!
Lovely post thoughtful Anna but snag is, Bbm is an allergic little soul ,what with his asthma & the like, so I guess that nuts and shellfish might be a tad dangerous potentially.

Plus it all sounds rather a lot of work for Mrs Bbm who we know is the chef chez Bbm

But he could snack on raisins, dates and dried apricots? And no-one can be allergic to lentils or kidney beans surely? (Incidentally, after much searching this morningI finally found Cali's Wonder Berries, hidden away in the crisps and snacks section!! I'd been looking in the nuts/seeds/wholesome aisles. I now have a packet of them)

When I went out this morning it was only 12° and a very chill breeze, grey, misty, low cloud. Only 14.6° now and showing no signs of clearing.

Yes indeed Cali - a "thundery sky" is in the process of formation right now over most of the south, with the barometer steadily falling, but all the forecasters predict the main breakdown already occurring in the SW not taking place until Monday elsewhere. Everything hinges on if and how rapidly the blocking high presently to the east of Scotland gives way, so that the Atlantic fronts associated with that slow-moving depression can come through and deposit their associated rainfall. At least an airstream of Turkish origin means that temperatures are keeping high for this time of year, and even when the rain arrives I don't think it will get much colder for a while. Not sure about wind speeds, an important factor when cycling, though.

I hope that the weather doesn't break down too much in the south west, as some brass band friends of mine in Tiverton, Devon, have their Carnival Day today.

Just been out into the garden, trusty Wilkinson's shears in hand, to 'deal with' the ivy which has gone bonkers this Summer Nice mild afternoon, threat of rain in the air but none so far

I got back inside, turned around to admire my ruthless handiwork, only to find that both hands are trembling now PLUS I can see so many areas that I've missed!

I did find the shed tho', last seen clearly when it was covered in snow

I like ivy, I always associate it with Victorians, death, and gloom. Kilvert used to put an ivy leaf in the latch to say he'd been but had found no-one in. Birds of course love to feast on the berries (probably rich in iron!) Didn't know you had a shed Ams, the on-dit is that they are very much the must-have garden accessory in which to do your writings or musings in Metrosexual land.

Slight rain here now for the second time today, only crept up 2 degrees since earlier, still very misty. Tomorrow is promised brighter with some sun, rain coming in (as S_A says) next week.

Snap! (Even down to the Wilkinson shears )

Lovely day today in the Pennines - fairly strong wind, but sunny and warm, too: perfect drying weather.

I got back inside, turned around to admire my ruthless handiwork, only to find that both hands are trembling now
Yep - and my thighs are tingling. Back in the day, "knee trembling" had very different connotations

PLUS I can see so many areas that I've missed!
I've gone to the other extreme - there are now huge holes in the hedge!
