I see that now that night's are getting longer, days are shorter. But with this lovely weather into the bag, we cannot grumble!

Yes, I'm here with my ipad, Anna, and thanks for your good wishes above. Home tomorrow after a pleasant break, with lots of pics and video. OT, weather has been good. No rain at all, coming over the passes this morning there was thick mist at the summits, which added to the excitement, but this afternoon there was glorious sunshine and a temp in the low 20s.

We are getting some odd weather forecasts on the BBC at the moment as they bear little relation to the reality and seem to change by the hour. Originally meant to be another heatwave this week has been reasonably average for mid to late August but not much more. No mention was made of the strong winds we had on Monday and Tuesday but showers mentioned for today never materialised. Today was meant to be a blip in the general warmth but instead it's been the best day of the week so far.
You have to make plans for what to wear etc based on these forecasts and it's impossible to choose correctly at the moment!"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

I was out yesterday, wasting my time at my local hospital having sight check-up.
A shock today, the biggest apple drop I've ever seen, the bottom of my garden covered by golf ball sized Bramleys.
Funny how they all drop together - is it the rain we have today or just the earlier dry spell? Dozens of pies gone overnight

Lovely day here, With wrist and computer problems I'm watching TV, a thing I normally don't do during the day.
Drama [Freeview 20] is a tonic. Just watched a lovely old episode of Bergerac- crumbs, they all look so young
I've been away, and am now back. Return to work at 7.45 tomorrow, then off till Tuesday.
OT, very foggy here last night. It's now overcast, and quite oppressive.

I hope Anna's all right.
Very strange weather here yesterday, with showers moving from west to east but surface winds in the opposite direction. Whether or not it all goes off with a bang tonight and tomorrow, and if so where, depends, we're being told, on fine balances in the atmosphere. My guess is that it will kick off tonight, up and down the country as a whole. I kind of feel it in my bones.

Weatherwise, this morning grey, humid, over 21°. S_A will be pleased to know that at the moment it's raining steadily and has been for about an hour but I think here we will miss the worst of that forecast for the rest of the country tomorrow, still uncertainty is seems over this stalled weather system. Yesterday early morning was Berghaus weather - by mid-afternoon it had climbed to over 25°, the moon was wonderful last night, bright as day, and a very pretty delicate pink sunset.
