I see that now that night's are getting longer, days are shorter. But with this lovely weather into the bag, we cannot grumble!

Good maths BBM! Anyone here being bathed in moonlight? It's been so bright, full tomorrow, lovely starry, starry, nights. But, a month from now, will we be bemoaning lack of sun and entering Winter's icy grip?

Thanks for that observation from Thursday from here, Anna. "Brummie Simon" is, er, banking on an unsettled September, I'm afraid, so we'd better try and make the most of the rest of August, thundery though it looks likely to be on Friday and Saturday.

Oh? I thought we'd be getting an Indian Summer?

Oh, we did that two months ago in Scotland. Traditional. "The nights are fair drawing in."

Yes, I'm here with my ipad, Anna, and thanks for your good wishes above. Home tomorrow after a pleasant break, with lots of pics and video. OT, weather has been good. No rain at all, coming over the passes this morning there was thick mist at the summits, which added to the excitement, but this afternoon there was glorious sunshine and a temp in the low 20s.

We are getting some odd weather forecasts on the BBC at the moment as they bear little relation to the reality and seem to change by the hour. Originally meant to be another heatwave this week has been reasonably average for mid to late August but not much more. No mention was made of the strong winds we had on Monday and Tuesday but showers mentioned for today never materialised. Today was meant to be a blip in the general warmth but instead it's been the best day of the week so far.

You have to make plans for what to wear etc based on these forecasts and it's impossible to choose correctly at the moment!

I was out yesterday, wasting my time at my local hospital having sight check-up.

A shock today, the biggest apple drop I've ever seen, the bottom of my garden covered by golf ball sized Bramleys.

Funny how they all drop together - is it the rain we have today or just the earlier dry spell? Dozens of pies gone overnight

A rather cloudy day, with drizzle at times.

With Anna apparently away this thread is slooooow.

Lovely day here, With wrist and computer problems I'm watching TV, a thing I normally don't do during the day.

Drama [Freeview 20] is a tonic. Just watched a lovely old episode of Bergerac- crumbs, they all look so young

Anna away? Yes, she has been conspicuous by her absence. I thought she'd have been at home, enjoying her new heating.

I've been away, and am now back. Return to work at 7.45 tomorrow, then off till Tuesday.

OT, very foggy here last night. It's now overcast, and quite oppressive.

                          I hope Anna's all right.

Very strange weather here yesterday, with showers moving from west to east but surface winds in the opposite direction. Whether or not it all goes off with a bang tonight and tomorrow, and if so where, depends, we're being told, on fine balances in the atmosphere. My guess is that it will kick off tonight, up and down the country as a whole. I kind of feel it in my bones.

I just took it that you all knew whether Anna was away or not.

I miss Stormy Weather thread but haven't posted much recently because of health problems.

Hope all is okay in Wales.

If it's going to be wet tomorrow I'd better totter out for a bit of shopping.

No, I haven't been away but thank you for missing me! I've just been very busy, in the aftermath of boiler works, clearing and rearranging and trying to catch up with missed Proms. Also have arranged for a new back door to be fitted next month (old wooden one won't go through another winter and it lets in the rain and draughts) plus I've been puzzling over paint charts - why do they make so many colours? (Sorry to hear that you've still been poorly saly. Looking forward to mangerton's steam pics on the train thread btw!

Weatherwise, this morning grey, humid, over 21°. S_A will be pleased to know that at the moment it's raining steadily and has been for about an hour but I think here we will miss the worst of that forecast for the rest of the country tomorrow, still uncertainty is seems over this stalled weather system. Yesterday early morning was Berghaus weather - by mid-afternoon it had climbed to over 25°, the moon was wonderful last night, bright as day, and a very pretty delicate pink sunset.

All this week, the local weather forecast has been saying that it was going to rain. It hasn't, and we have had a few lovely days. How can they get it so wrong?
