I was going to also say about voice recognition? If someone has similar problems that saly has?

I've never used my laptop on my lap - It's on a little trolley on castors, so it's easy to push it away from me to get up.
I sit in a big armchair but I have a straight back and, yes, the top of the screen is level with my eyes

Trouble is the mouse seems to wander off course and I still prefer the touchpad. However it's in pieces so will persevere with the wretched rodent.

In case you've missed it Mitsuko Uchida is on BBC4 at 7.30, tonight's prom delayed by 30 mins.

Why hasn't she been there for 20 years or so?

        OT lovely evening here.

Saly, the mouse I use is a battery operated Technika, powered by 2 triple A batteries, which I have had for maybe 3 years and which replaced a succession plug-in ones that all eventually succumbed to the cursor-on-the-loose syndrome you describe. The latter phenomenon only happens with this mouse when the batteries wear out; I normally get them in packs of 6 (Energiser) at the supermarket. If you can persuade one of your relatives to obtain one, this could be your solution.

Thanks S_A but mine is a wireless Logitech, not plugged in. No, the fault is mine, must try harder.

Crikey mangerton! I looked at that and thought it was a pic of your 42" flat screen telly! It's HUGE! I think such a big one would make me go cross eyed.
I have a small screen at home and just checked with a steel rule and my eyes are actually level with the top as I sit on a low chair (actually a vintage Lloyd Loom tubchair - there's swankily retro!)
Ontopic: Clouded up here, forecast says overnight rain clearing by morning.

I remember Lloyd Loom. As you say, dead posh!

It's 19" diagonal, widescreen. Useful for editing photos and video.

Must go and do some work. Late Friday shift today.

OT much as yesterday, but I just washed the car so it'll probably rain.

One way to guarantee it, Mangs!

It seems we're back to typical weather for the time of year - muggy, cloudier than sunny, comfortable for the forseeable future, in other words.

Last night's forecast for rain was wrong, today has been max 21° but not at all muggy, looking further ahead for here the rain forecast for Sunday has been deleted.
I've just had an email to say my tree chap + chainsaw will be with me at midday tomorrow - initially it was due to coincide with boiler works and tomorrow I'd planned a lie-in, a leisurely morning in town, coffee and cake with a friend and then back to *cupboard clearing and scrubbing. Oh well, I'll have to get out early and back again and forego catching up with latest gossip......
                    * I do recommend clearing all cupboards, sorting contents and then putting everything back in a logical order. Most therapeutic and a guaranteed good sleep through exhaustion! Also, so far I've amassed two large bags of assorted for the charity shops inc. a rather nice, never used, retro 60s style French cafe/the maker glass thingy and two matching glasses with handles. My mate Terrence who helps run local Oxfam shop will fall over himself to purchase those!

We had some rain this morning but sun after! :)

MrsBBM will be going back to work Monday. Still not fully recovered yet.

Juicy weather here today after several days of clear, dry, sunny weather. Temperatures have cooled down quite a bit and the days are beginning to draw in. Autumn is around the corner. The HH is celebrating his birthday today by grilling an enormous slab of dead, red cow on the barbecue...rain or not. Meanwhile, m. is occupied with mother who is failing and needs feeding. The staff at the nursing home will do this but mom loves to be fed by her nearest and dearest. I do one meal a day and it perks her up no end to have that personal attention.

It has been hotter this year on this side of The Pond, I think; the north-easternmost States as a group have been experiencing their coolest summer season for several years, apparently.

I do hope all is working out for the best for your mum, marthe.

Gracious - surely she should not go back to work until she is fully recovered ?

Well, she's on zero contract where she works.

Oh Dear, BBM, that's not good, I think she can't even claim SSP. Lots about zero contracts in the news this week, a growing trend it seems, but could she not take another couple of days so she can rest a bit more or would that impact on future hours offered?

Ontopic: Grey, cloudy, 18°, (hope it's not going to rain for garden chainsaw work)
