I used to be envious of my brother's lederhosen as they seemed eternally youthful.

But as a vegetarian I strongly disapprove of the whole violent (if practical) shepherd gear schtick.

I suppose one would have to go around perpetually smelling of shoe polish though...

A friend and I were almost thrown out of a cafe in Innsbruck years ago. The knee slapping dancers in appropriate Tyrolian costume went on and on for ages and after a good dinner we could see the funny side of it all. Still, it was a lovely holiday, especially Salzburg.

My joints that creak are mainly below the belt - hip, knee, ankle + lower back sometimes. Above the belt, most joints seem fairly well-lubricated.

I read with some alarm in the i paper yesterday that joints are now low priority with the GPs, so I probably won't be able to interest them in my ailments:
"But an investigation for the BMJ found that some CCGs have tightened the thresholds for access to “low priority” surgery such as hernia and joint problems. Others have introduced new systems to restrict the flow of patients being sent to hospital."

                          Patients face Rationing

I had my right knee replaced (it was damaged in a fall 25 years ago) about four years ago and it was a great success. Since then I've been concentrating on losing weight as instructed by the surgeon - I hope that it's not all in vain now

Hip and lower back [sacro-iliac] joints have been low priority for ages here. Doctors don't know what to do or suggest, osteopaths won't treat anyone over 70,chiropractors rip
you off financially and probably physically as well.

It's a funny old world, I discovered a doctor at the local surgery bad-mouthed osteos whilst have treatment himself.

Well, the BBC have announced for the third time this week Scotland has been the hottest place in the UK!! 28° in Leuchars (which is near to mangerton) We've been 26.7° but without any breeze it's felt very muggy and oppressive and it says we could be 29° tomorrow, I'd quite welcome a thunderstorm.

(I bought some amazing stripey gazanias today on the basis that being South African they'll flourish in this weather of which there is no end in sight!)
